Replacing heat from fossil fuels by energy from waste
Ženatý, Sebastian ; Smejkalová, Veronika (referee) ; Putna, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deal with the topic of waste treatment and possibility of its energy utilization. Methods of waste treatment are presented in the introduction research part. It is mainly focused on the environmental impact. Subsequently it is concentrated on energy recovery facility, the environmental aspect of which is again the main focus. The practical part starts with a description of a tool suitable for modeling of heating and power plants networks. This tool is used for the calculation of specified heating network in the second practical section. Finally, the results are evaluated and the alternatives of the plant operation are proposed.
Environmental Impact Assessment of Manufacturing Abrasion Resistant Coatings with Magnetron Sputtering
Krobauer, Jakub ; Holub, Martin (referee) ; Kocmanová, Alena (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the environmental impact assesment of the manufacturing process of cutting tool coatings. Described are current environmental problems and duties of companies affecting the environment. There is a description of methods used in environmental management, one of which is the LCA method. This method is then used to compare environmental impacts of TiN and AlTiN coatings. The thesis describes manufacturing process of these coatings and evaluates environmental impacts for both coatings. These results are then compared and conclusions and recommendations are made.
Nuclear Power Plants Security
Štěpán, Jakub ; Smutný, Milan (referee) ; Ellederová, Eva (advisor)
Koncept bezpečnosti a zabezpečení jaderných elektráren je složitý. Bezpečný provoz jaderných elektráren má zásadní význam pro spolehlivou a neškodnou výrobu elektřiny. Nehoda spojená s tímto typem zařízení by mohla mít negativní dopad na zdraví lidí, volně žijících zvířat, a mohla by způsobit znečištění životního prostředí.
Investigation of NPPs’ environmental impacts using radioanalytical methods
Brunčiaková, Miriama ; Foral, Štěpán (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
This thesis' objective is to analyse local environmental impact of NPP. For impact determination, it is necessary to monitor the locality for a long period. For biomonitoring method, gamma-spectrometers might be used. It should be calibrated before the measurement. Within the thesis investigation, spectrometer of the faculty was calibrated in the laboratory of ionizing radiation and three samples of Czech nuclear facilities outlet were analysed.
From resource variation to habitat loss: how changing environment shapes the plant-pollinator interactions
AKTER, Asma
Annotation: Akter, A. and Klecka, J. 2020. Interactive effects of temperature, water, and nitrogen availability on the growth, floral traits, and pollination of white mustard, Sinapis alba. This was an experimental approach where Sinapis alba (white mustard), an economically beneficial crop was grown under different environmental conditions. Here, we assess how different growing conditions affected the growth of S. alba and the impact of different climate changing drivers on pollination and seed production. Akter, A., Biella, P., Klecka, J. 2017. Effects of small-scale clustering of flowers on pollinator foraging behaviour and flower visitation rate. PLoS ONE 12(11): e0187976. In this part of research, we experimentally changed the spatial structure of flower in small patches and assessed the impact on the foraging behaviour of pollinators, particularly, A. mellifera. Akter, A., Biella, P., Klecka, J. 2020. Introduction of new floral resources into plant-pollinator communities: impact on flower visitation mediated by species traits. This field-based experiment showed the impact of experimentally introduced floral resources in a plant community and how the response of the pollinator communities towards the new resources were mediated by the floral traits. Biella, P., Akter, A., Pajares, A.J.M., Federici, G., Galimberti, A., Jersáková, J., Labra, M., Mangili, F., Tommasi N. and Mangili, L. 2020. Pollination strategies of a plant in an unstable habitat: the case of the narrow-endemic toadflax Linaria tonzigii (Plantaginaceae). In this field-based research we assessed the pollination and reproduction strategies of an endemic plant, Linaria tonzigii, and the relation between the genetic variation and distribution. Akter, A., Biella, P., Batáry, P., Klecka, J. 2020. Changing pollinator communities along a disturbance gradient in the Sundarbans mangrove forest: a case study on Acanthus ilicifolius and Avicennia officinalis. Global Ecology and Conservation 24: e01282. This study was carried out in the Sundarbans mangrove forest, where we assessed the impact of human disturbances and forest loss on the plant-pollinator communities.
Environmentally friendly food consumption choices, shopping, and behaviour in Czech society – Food 2021
Hanzlová, Radka
The most important factor the Czech public considers when shopping for food is price, followed by a food’s ingredients, while the least important factor is the food’s packaging. For a more than one-half majority (51%) of respondents the environmental impact of how the foods they buy are produced is important to them, while for 45% this consideration is not important at all. The absolute majority (91%) of the Czech public eat regular food without any restrictions, 3% are vegetarians and 3% are flexitarians, and the remaining 3% adhere to some other type of diet (gluten-free, health food, vegan). One-third (33%) of respondents indicated they at least occasionally by organic food, which compared to 2020 is an increase of 10 percentage points.
Payments with environmental impact in the budgets of municipalities
Cahlík, Jakub ; Marková, Hana (advisor) ; Boháč, Radim (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the structure of local charges with environmental impact and evaluates their contribution into budgets of municipalities. The first part of the thesis analyses basic characteristic of this kind of payments, their mutual cohesion and their role in the budgets of municipalities. The summary of particular charges in relation to valid law, the height of them and their relation to ecological purposes is discussed in the analytical part of the thesis. The possibility of the replacement of local charges with uniform ecological rate and evaluation of currently system of charges from economical and inhabitants' point of view is analysed in conclusion.
